SEWC Chapters/Groups
SEWC- India
Launched in April 2010, with a three-day International Conference in Bangalore on ‘Architecture-Structure Interaction’ with only invited keynote speakers.
SEWC-India successfully conducted another International Colloquium ‘Architecture- Structure Interaction’ during November 18-23, 2013 in Delhi, again with only invited keynote speakers.
SEWC - India once again successfully conducted another International Colloquium 'Architecture-Structure Interaction' for Sustainable Built Environment with special focus 'Why Concrete' during July 13-23, 2017 in Bangalore with only Invited Keynote speakers.
SEWC - India successfully conducted a Seminar on Seismic Isolation in association with the Japanese Society of Seismic Isolation in Bangalore [3-Day Seminar ] and in Ahmedabad [ 2- Day Seminar ] during October - November 2017.
SEWC - India International Colloquium proposed to be held in the city of Hyderabad, being organised by SEWC India Group during 2020-2021 has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances like Covid-19 pandemic etc. although the initial preparation to conduct the conference was underway.
SEWC-China Group
Formally launched in November 2011 in Shanghai, with a two-day forum on ‘Large Scale Steel and Composite Structures’. Along with technical and professional presentations, there were some invited keynote lectures including that of a few IASS members. SEWC-China Group conducted successfully their 2nd International Forum on “Large-scale Steel and Composite Structures in Shanghai” on April 18 & 19, 2014.
SEWC-China Group is the host to organize the 8th SEWC Congress in Shanghai during October 2022.
SEWC-Italy Group
SEWC Italy Group [ SEWC- IG ] formed by Dr. Ing. Gian Carlo Giuliani in Milan on July 3rd, 2012 and they successfully conducted a one day conference on “GLIS group (seismic isolation)”.
On February 20th, 2013, in Milano, SEWC-IG held another conference on the recent methods for the design of structures against fire. Further on October 18th, SEWC-IG co- organized with GLIS (Working group on seismic isolation), in Pescara, a seminar on the rehabilitation of existing buildings by means of anti-seismic systems.
SEWC-Mexico Group
In June, 2013; the SEWC Mexico Group – SEWC MG, was officially formed The Sociedad Mexicana de Ingeniería Estructural – SMIE, [ie.,Mexican Society of Structural Engineering] and The Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México – UNAM, [ie., National Autonomous University of Mexico] have joined hands to form SEWC Mexico Group.
Dr. Juan Gerardo Oliva Salinas has been elected as the first Chairman of SEWC- Mexico Group.
SEWC – Turkey Group
During June 2014 SEWC-Turkey Group was officially registered/formed in Istanbul. SEWC – Turkey Group is headed by Prof. Gorun Arun.
SEWC – Turkey Group organized an international symposium on "Re-evaluating Contemporary Designs in Historical Context" during 1-3 July, 2015 in Istanbul.
SEWC Singapore Group
SEWC Singapore Group has been launched during the SEWC 2015 Conference in Singapore during October 19-22, 2015.
SEWC Japan Group
SEWC Japan Group has been launched in Tokyo on July 14, 2016 Dr. Akira Wada [Chairman of JSSI, Professor Emeritus of Tokyo Institute of Technology ] to be the new President of SEWC-Japan.
SEWC Poland Group
SEWC Poland Group is also launched recently initiated by as Prof. Romuald Tarczewski, Professor of Structural Engineering Faculty of Architecture, Wroclaw University of Science and Technology and that a group of people, mostly gathered around the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology with a shared professional and research interest, have decided to formalize their cooperation within the SEWC.
SEWC South Korea Group
SEWC South Korea Group is formed under Dr. Kwangryang CHUNG, President of Korean Structural Engineers Association [ KSEA ]. SEWC South Korea Group is supported by premierm institutions in South Korea like Korean Structural Engineers Association [KSEA] together with the support from Korean Association for Spatial Structures [ KASS ] etc.
SEWC Mediterranean Group
SEWC Mediterranean Group initiated by Prof. Enzo Siviero will be formed shortly.
